8 Thoughtful Gifts for Mother’s Day That Aren’t a Gift Card

Mother’s Day is just around the corner and now is the time to start planning a thoughtful gift that she will love. I put together list the below list as a new mom myself and I think receiving any one of these would be so special because more thought was put into them than a gift card.

  1. Book a photoshoot with a local photographer. Nothing means more to a mom than photos with her babies. As a mom, it’s also hard to capture moments yourself, and let’s face it… our husbands aren’t the best at capturing those moments either. Having professional photos taken of your family or even just a mommy and me photo session is a special gift she will cherish for a lifetime. If a family session isn’t in the budget, search for what photographers refer to as “minis.” These typically last 10-20 minutes and are offered at a lower price.
  2. Schedule a cleaning service to do a deep clean of the house. One of the best feelings in the world is coming home to a clean home, especially one I didn’t have to clean myself. Send your mom away for a few hours to have a moment to herself and surprise her with a fresh clean home when she returns! Bonus: have a bouquet of her favorite flowers on the table.
  3. Take her on a shopping spree. I know this sounds a little like a romcom but as moms sometimes we’re so focused on our kids, work, cooking, and keeping the home organized that we don’t think about treating ourselves. I am guilty of only shopping for my son and not wanting to spend money on myself so when my husband takes me shopping and encourages me to buy new shoes or new clothes it’s such a fun date.
  4. Schedule a class that she would be interested in taking. Whether it’s a cooking class, dance class, sewing class, etc. A really cute idea would be to purchase an item based on the class along with booking it. For example, a cute new workout set for her to wear to a Pilates class.
  5. Jewelry that represents her babies with initials or birthstones. For Christmas, my husband gifted me a necklace with my son’s birthstone and his first name inital, it’s so special to me that I never take it off.
  6. A digital frame preloaded with her favorite photos. I used to think the digital photo frames were a little cheesy as I love a physical print. However, I received the Skylight digital picture frame as a gift and I love the ability to add new photos to it daily for display. My son even likes to point and swipe through the different pictures. It brings our family a lot of joy. Shop the Skylight digital picture frame here.
  7. A custom makeup bag loaded with a few of her favorite products and new products to try. The Sephora sale is still going on and they have a ton of great gift ideas that are on sale. A makeup gift set or hair gift set is a good chance for her to test new products. (Reminder to use code SAVEMORE).

Mark & Graham has a great selection of cosmetic bags that you can customize with her initials. I love this traditional option & this floral option.
  8. Book a day at the spa or book a mani-pedi at her favorite spot. Instead of a gift card, make the effort of researching the best spas in your area and booking the appointment for her.

Lastly, don’t forget a good handwritten card to truly express how much you love and appreciate her! Let us know what you’re gifting this year and let us know if you go with one of these ideas. Happy Mother’s Day!
